LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 7 December 2021 – The IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) Board of Governors has confirmed the incoming editors in chief (EICs) for five IEEE CS publications. Their terms start on 1 January 2022 and end on 31 December 2024.
Chia-Lin Yang, of National Taiwan University’s Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, is the incoming EIC of IEEE Computer Architecture Letters. IEEE Computer Architecture Letters is a forum for publishing early, high-impact results in the areas of uni- and multiprocessor computer systems, computer architecture, microarchitecture, workload characterization, performance evaluation and simulation techniques, and power-aware computing.
Longbing Cao, of University of Technology Sydney, Australia, is the incoming EIC of IEEE Intelligent Systems. This bimonthly publication provides peer-reviewed, cutting-edge articles on the theory and applications of systems that perceive, reason, learn, and act intelligently.
Lei Chen, from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, is the incoming EIC of IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering. This journal provides an international and interdisciplinary forum to communicate results of new developments in knowledge and data engineering and the feasibility studies of these ideas in hardware and software, in areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, and computer engineering.
Kyoung Mu Lee, of Seoul National University, Korea, is the incoming EIC of IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence. This journal publishes articles on all traditional areas of computer vision and image understanding, all traditional areas of pattern analysis and recognition, and selected areas of machine intelligence, with a particular emphasis on machine learning for pattern analysis.
Ernesto Damiani of Università degli Studi di Milano Statale, Italy, is the incoming EIC of IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, which covers all computing and software aspects of the science and technology of services innovation research and development.
Srinivas Aluru, from the School of Computational Science & Engineering at the George Institute of Technology, USA, began his term as EIC of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in August 2021. This journal emphasizes the algorithmic, mathematical, statistical, and computational methods that are central in bioinformatics and computational biology; the development and testing of effective computer programs in bioinformatics; the development of biological databases; important biological results that are obtained from the use of these methods, programs, and databases; and the emerging field of Systems Biology, where many forms of data are used to create a computer-based model of a complex biological system.
In addition to these new EICs, the following EICs have been reappointed for a second term, starting on 1 January 2022 and ending 31 December 2023.
- Gerardo Con Diaz, University of California, Davis, USA—IEEE Annals of the History of Computing
- George Pallis, University of Cyprus—IEEE Intelligent Computing
- Lizy Kurian John, University of Texas, Austin, USA—IEEE Micro
- Ipek Ozkaya, Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute, USA—IEEE Software
